Spacing - coffee farming

Coffee plants need enough space to grow and bear fruits. Planting distance, or spacing, vary from variety to variety and mainly depends on topography and soil fertility. We plant each tree 2 meters apart, both vertically and horizontally. In a garden area, we will plant 400 trees per rai (1 rai = 0.16ha). If the garden has mixed trees, we’ll be able to plant about 300 trees per rai.

The distance between plants create a comfortable walkway when maintaining and harvesting coffee beans. Furthermore, these are natural air vents, protecting plants from disease and insects.Intercropping
